Really Good Reading

So, I have been quite busy lately, and as you can see, my blogging has suffered significantly. I just have not had time nor ideas to blog about. Until now. One of my friends and fellow Bloggers (yes Becky, I am talking about you) often writes about books she is reading, has read etc... and I think it is a splendid idea. So, I have decided to borrow the idea :) Just for today. Or maybe not.

Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen

I absolutely loved this book! This is the first book I have read by Sara Gruen and all I can say is that it is fantastically written, very engrossing and just an incredible story. As most of you may know, it has also been made into a movie which was released on April 22. The movie stars Reese Witherspoon, Robert Pattison (aka Edward Cullen) and Christoph Waltz (the insanely psycho villian from Inglorious Basterds). I read this book at a rapid pace... I simply could not put it down. It has romance, mystery, evil and despair. I don't want to give anything away... all I can say is that it certainly is a must read event. Get ready to fall in love with Jacob Jakowski... and the circus. And elephants.
And now, I leave you with this... an incredibly handsome photo of Christoph Waltz. He is so dreamy.

24 days and counting...

So, just thought I would share the exciting news.

No, I am not pregnant.

Now that that has been said, I am going to VEGAS!! And I know what you are all thinking? Didn't you just go? The answer is yes, I did. But I am going again... this time, with 2 of my close girlfriends, Kayley and Monica! We are leaving May 7th and coming home May 10th... 3 nights! I am SO excited! The average temperature in May is 31 degrees... that is reason enough to go! We are staying at TI Treasure Island and we are just looking forward to getting our tan on by the pool, doing a little shopping and having some great meals together. Not to mention, everything else Vegas will bring us. I simply cannot wait.

BOOTy-licious

I was at my Grandma's house a while back and was going through old picture albums of me in my childhood to see if there is any similarities between Isla and me. I came across this photo of me at about 2 years old in my grandpa's work boots. It's one of my favorite pictures. My grandfather passed away 7 years ago and it just captures me and my love for him. I imagine myself saying "I want to be just like Grandpa" as I climbed into his monstrous shoes.
Isla's latest obsession is to play with the shoes at our back entry... she pulls them all off the shelves and walks around the house carrying one in each hand. She goes back to the entry way, changes the shoes she carries and keeps on her way. At the back entrance, Cam's work boots were sitting there and then I remembered the photo of me. I had to re-enact it with Isla.

A Walking Wonder

ISLA WALKS. ISLA WALKS. ISLA WALKS.

This is very exciting news! And I am the proudest Mama on planet earth. Some of you already know that Isla has been walking along furniture for MONTHS now. On her first birthday, I remember saying that it was only a matter of days until she is a full blown walker. Well, 2.5 months later, she is! On Sunday, she was taking steps in between crawling, on Monday when we went to visit Cam at work, she was trucking all over the warehouse and on Tuesday, she decided that crawling was for chumps and now walks everywhere. It is so neat to watch your child be proud of themselves. All night last night, Isla was walking around our house with her buddha belly protruding and this magnificent look of pride plastered to her beautiful face. If our attention diverged from her new accomplishment, she would yell (literally) to get us to watch her again. She is so cute! Here are some pictures, just for fun!
